20K DAVE’S HOME

The $20K House is an ongoing research project at the Rural Studio that aims to solve the problem of providing decent, affordable homes that are beautiful and well-built. Dave's Home was built for $20,000 where around $12,000 was allocated for materials and the remaining $8,000 covered labor costs and contractor profit.

This was a design/build project, completed with two team mates, while at the Rural Studio's Outreach Program. It was featured in the Small Scale Big Change exhibit at MoMA, NY.

FORD FOUNDATION CENTER FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE

The renovation of the iconic modernist building by Kevin Roche & John Dinkeloo was a complex process to restore the original spirit of the project. The updates brought the building up to code, ensured it preserved its landmarked status and expanded its sustainable and accessibility mandate, making the facility open to more of the public.
